What do we mean when we talk about branding?
  • creating an identity
  • function
  • selling a product
  • selling the site and school to public
  • a 'feel' running through the building
  • aesthetics
What does it involve and why is it so important?
  • advertising
  • logo
  • colour
  • graphics
  • typography
  • identity
  • material
  • understand wants and needs of customers
  • simple
  • clearly delivers the message

LOGO REWORKING.

There is the opportunity to develop the BRIT logo, or part of it, to fit with the schools future vision.

EXAMPLES

The Starbucks logo has changed over the years though it is not highly noticeable. Imagery has become recognisable without the need of text.

The company Unilever has also changed their logo as the previous logo became offensive as people believed the 'U' represented the Twin Towers in the US.

"We help people feel good, look good and get more out of life with brands and services that are good for them and good for others. Our identity expresses Unilever's core  values, with each icon representing an aspect of the business."

INTERIOR DESIGN AND BRANDING.

How does the nature of the interior of a building effect us?
  • changes mood
  • colour therapy
  • motivation
What elements are important?
  • mood
  • opinion
  • shape
  • structure
  • lighting - natural light:windows/artificial lighting
  • space
How can we include branding within these elements?
  • demotivation
  • symbols
  • colour

WAY FINDING.

What is way finding?
Way finding is how a person finds their way around a place
     - building, tube, city, etc.

Why is way finding important?
  • saves time
  • helps people navigate a space
  • helps people look at something in a correct order
How could we tie this into our rebranding?
  • relevance
  • colour (codes)
  • fonts
  • symbols
  • signposting
  • recognition

EVERYDAY SIGNS.
Everyday signs have to be clear and concise as the people following them may be stressed or tired from school work or other things. Having unclear signs will cause even more stress and depression.

Less ordinary wayfinding
  • obvious
  • symbols
  • keys
  • over sized text/imagery
  • simple and fun
